Spring is that time of the year we all look forward to. Soft flirty florals, tonal layering, pastels and muted neutrals, it’s all about shedding the chunky winter layers and dressing lighter. For women spring pumps and flats prove the easiest and most effective way when transitioning from the cooler months to the warmer.
Alternatively for men Spring is all about loosening up and relaxing your wardrobe, but never about compromising on style! Two of the seasons hottest footwear options to help you achieve this look are the classic loafer and the, by now, mens staple leather sneaker.
In this article we’re going to run through some of the best footwear choices for men and women this spring and how to style them.

WOMEN - PUMPS

From chic and refined to quirky and embellished, the humble pump is elevated to new heights this season. One of the most versatile and transeasonal footwear options every woman should own, they have the innate ability to take you from day to night with seamless ease.
Take for example Lorena Paggi's ankle strapped, pointed kitten heel pump in apricot and mint ( the kitten heel is a strong look this season ). Paired with classic denim and a tank top for day time polish, or dressed up with a short and flirty dress for Cocktail hour, they will add instant chic to your outfit!
For a more classic approach look to conflict for interests “Viola”, a twist on the traditional loafer, the soft cream patent leather, trimmed with gold chain, when paired with a cropped tailored pant and soft relaxed blouse, screams Italian chic! Bougie but not stuffy. Similarly the new Signature “Melissa” ( from our second consecutive collaboration with @styledbysally ), with its soft suede upper and v shaped vamp, is a new classic in the making! Flattering on almost every foot it encompasses two of the most import things in a great shoe, comfort and style.
And for evening? Look no further than the embellished and rich jewel toned velvets of Fratelli Russos Altea and Arilde. When paired with a simple LBD or soft tailored suit, they are sure to gain attention and command the room. The architectural shaped block heel of the Arilde available in burgundy and blue is a conversation starter in itself!

WOMEN - FLATS

Women's flats for spring may not be groundbreaking, but they, like the pump, are essential to every woman’s wardrobe. Wether channeling Audrey Hepburn in ballerina style flats ( Fratelli Russos “Alex 104 or Quaits “23235”  ), turtle neck knit and cropped pant, or Relaxed Hamptons chic, infusing neutral tones, subtle embellishment and detailing ( Lorena Paggi's sachetto flats 31200 in mint and yellow, or Lorena Paggi's 31203 ), flats are the most comfortable and practical option that need not compromise your style.
For a more tailored option with a pop of colour our Lemargo EY01A loafer is a standout. For a more masculine edge to even the prettiest of outfits, adding a certain sense of androgynous cool with these INK 770. We suggest pairing them with a soft tailored suit and and poplin shirt, or straight leg denim, tank top and blazer, to achieve the ultimate elevated, yet relaxed spring look.

TRENDING FOR WOMEN

Woven vamps are a big trend this season, from  boots ( Lemargo GH04B ) to pumps ( quaint 20424Lorena Paggi 31521 ) and flats ( Lorena Paggi 31404 and 31203 ), very Italian, very chic! Mostly in neutrals, with some bursts or colour,  they are sure to compliment any outfit and lift your spirts for the warmer months. Their intricate woven detail gives beautiful elements of texture and add interest to even the most basic of outfits. Soft leathers, flexible sole units and vegetable dyed uppers, constructed by hand, mean guaranteed comfort, something we and our Artisan footwear experts strive for season after season.

MEN

Spring is all about loosening up and relaxing your wardrobe, but never about compromising on style! Two of the seasons hottest footwear options to help you achieve this look are the classic loafer and the, by now, mens staple leather sneaker.

LOAFERS

From the classic Penny Loafer ( conflict for interest 301-1 in Bordeaux ), to the double monk ( Lemargo GD04A in cognac ) and tasseled ( conflict for interest 6901 ), loafers are easily paired with a tailored pant ( cuffed or cropped just on or above the ankle ) and polo, or smart shorts and loose fitting linen shirt - think lounging on the Italian Rivera sipping on Aperol Spritzers- very Italian…
Loafers are the easiest and most effective way in making casual “Cool”. Another key trend in loafers this season is woven vamps ( Lemargo GD01B ). The woven effect adds a touch of texture and contrast when paired with a simple tee, denim and light blazer, or with a smart soft tailored or unstructured suit. They ooze suave sophistication to even the most fashionably challenged ( look to Alteas latest spring collection for inspiration in dressing with ease )

SMART SNEAKERS

The leather sneaker keeps evolving and this season they are more discerning than ever. The “Dressed” up sneaker, by now, has become a wardrobe staple, especially after the pandemic. The sneaker has become a way of expressing your personal style with the added bonus of all day comfort. Nonchalantly paired with a classic tee and denim, they can be easily dressed up by adding a smart blazer or substituting with a beautifully tailored suit to help elevate, and further enhance your personal style goals.
When considering sneakers, neutrals are the smartest option for when you want to dress up your look ( conflict for interest 3309 in off white, or conflict for interest SN70 blue are both great options ), whilst a sportier option ( conflict for interest SBOB / F white, conflict for interest SN124C in black, or Ernesto Dolani 3UMAS04 in chocolate ) can prove the perfect choice for those back yard BBQ’s or impromptu Sunday afternoons down at the local pub, creating a chilled look that shows you put in  a bit of effort and thought about your appearance. Slick not sloppy. Remember “Sometimes the clothes do not make the man”, but the shoes DO!

TRENDING FOR MEN

The “Brogue” has reared its head again this season, making somewhat of a comeback. From the more traditional, classic styles ( conflict for interests 6401 and Lemargos AQ01A ) to the contemporary ( Ernesto Dolani 3UMAR01) with wrap around laces, they can take you from the office to the bar with ease. Equally as slick with a well tailored suit, don’t be afraid to dress them down with a denim and tee, forget the rules, make your own!
